In the 70’s and 80’s, Channel 11 seemed to struggle the most(especially whent there's no Burns, Long or DeNardo at your station). Newscast titles would include “News/Watch,” “Instant News,” “Steel City News,” “Newscenter 11,” and finally “Channel 11 News.” The station’s call sign would change from WIIC to WPXI in 1981.

Some iconic personalities would anchor the news from Television Hill. Starting in the early 70’s to late 70’s, they would include Adam Lynch, Ray Tannehill, Eleanor Schano, Pat Kiley, Bob Cochran, Beverly Byer, Hank Baughman and Alan Frio just to name a few. Weather would also tend to have plenty of turnovers with such personalities around the same time such as Ralph Fallert, Don Riggs, Russ Montgomery, Ken Phillips, PJ Maloney, Pat Finn and Pat Shingleton. Sports was about the only stability Channel 11 had. Sam Nover lasted from about 1970 to 1979, left for NBC, then came back after Bill Currie, Dave Sullivan and Rocky Blier all held the sports anchor chair for about two years. By the 80’s when Channel 11 launched a 5:30 newscast, Baughman, Jane Crawford, Roxanne Stein and Jim Scott (who would go back to Channel 4) became the main anchors, Shingleton (who like Phillips was a meteorologist) would leave and be replaced by Barry Lillis who really never caught on with viewers. Finn would replace Lillis, then would be replaced by Tim Earl, who would be switched with weekend weather forecaster Dennis Bowman. Baughman and Stein would be the main anchor team until 1985 when Mike Hambrick would replace Baughman who’d go back to weekends and anchor with Della Crews. Stein would be replaced by Kelley Mitchell who was interim for Edye Tarbox. Channel 11 brought back a 5:30 newscast to replace the one as mentioned that was cancelled in 1984. Mitchell would anchor with Ron Jaye and John Fedko would do sports. David Johnson would replace Hambrick in early 1989. Later that same year, Peggy Finnegan would replace Tarbox.

My apologies if I left anybody off the list. Thank you for remembering Barry Judge. I knew there was a guy named Barry who co-anchored 11's 6PM news with Ray Tannehill. I do remember Barry Judge when I was in Seattle when he was KING-TV 5's anchor in the early '90's.
