Quinn did work in NYC in the early '70s, at WPIX-FM, which was programmed by Ken Draper (ex-KYW, WCFL). Then it was WKBW in Buffalo and back to Pittsburgh at 13Q.

Quinn left KQV for Philly in late spring or early summer '68, by which time KQV had also tightened up a little. He was replaced first by Todd Chase, then Kris Stevens. There was an odd shtick orchestrated on the air in early '69, in which Stevens and Quinn talked by phone about how the latter missed Pittsburgh, and a petition campaign was undertaken to "bring back your leader." (the petition was on the reverse of the KQV store survey sheet). This was a win-win situation; Kris Stevens went to WLS in Chicago, Quinn returned to Pittsburgh just in time to mount something of a pre-emptive strike against the new WIXZ and their motormouth star jock, Dick "Wild Child" Kemp. When Quinn returned, they promoted him as "the original Wild Child" and took him around to personal appearances in the heart of WMCK/WIXZ's suburban territory, all during the last week or two before WIXZ hit the air.
