I believe the two-anchor concept was started by NBC in the mid-50's with "The Huntley-Brinkley Report" with Chet Huntley in New York and David Brinkley in Washington. They were in separate cities but ping-ponged stories as if they were together. I'm not sure when the concept started in Pittsburgh, but I guess it was Bill Burns and Marie Torre at KDKA, possibly in the mid-60's.
