From what I recall, the news broke on one of the network televised football games. I remember my clock radio waking me up to get ready for school. 3WS was where it was set and Nat Humphries was talking about somebody who had been shot to death. It took a moment to realize that it was John Lennon. I don't have an aircheck of that, but I do have a recording from the following Saturday's "Soundtrack of the 60s" syndicated show, when the late Murray "The K" Kaufman (who died of cancer soon after)read the letter he'd written to Yoko and eulogized John.
