I was given the unenviable task of covering the parade for KDKA Radio. After all, it was a big event that closed some downtown streets. Ed Wallis, who was then area vice president for Westinghouse Broadcasting, sat in his office listening to every word, and when the parade was over and I got back to the station, I was ordered to see him immediately. I expected the guillotine, but he congratulated me on a fine job of what was essentially walking a tightrope. Whew!!
