"Sound One" was an alternate identifier that KDKA used in the '60s. (It may have been used throughout the Westinghouse chain, as many imaging elements were). It was, "KDKA, Sound One radio for Pittsburgh." The year-end survey charts for 1964, '65 and '66 call the list, "The Sound Ones for (year)."

They had one jingle that went, "Sound One spells fun for everyone, KDKA, Pittsburgh." I believe there were others with the same theme. 1960s era KDKA airchecks seem to be in short supply, so it's probably lost to time.

The meaning was just to cement the notion that KDKA was supposed to be your No. 1 choice for whatever you wanted on radio.
