Bill Cardille on "Chiller Theater" comes to mind.

Nationally, the heaviest smoker in television was probably Edward R. Murrow. And in many episodes of "I Love Lucy," there's a lot of smoking, because Philip Morris was the original sponsor.

More smoking trivia: The very earliest episode or two of "Beverly Hillbillies" had Granny smoking a corncob pipe, much like Mammy Yokum of "Li'l Abner." But the pipe disappeared quickly, possibly because the sponsor was Winston cigarettes.
