First time I remember hearing the calls was late December 1970, when the station tracked the brand new "Jesus Christ Superstar" album. The first ID was Bob Wilson saying, dry, "This is WDVE, Pittsburgh." The IDs with sound effects came later.

The station was still running the taped programming from ABC at that point. They added local, live jocks sometime in January or February 1971, and were all live by May or June.

This doesn't answer the question, but...
