Sad news indeed.

Some Perry trivia: His birth name was Sheldon Roy Lewis and he had worked as "Roy Silver" in Chicago. He was given the name "Perry Marshall" by Ernie Tannen when he went to work as a DJ at WEEP. He worked at WJAS when that station was all-talk, did a music-talk hybrid show for KQV and replaced Wheeler on KDKA's overnight shift in 1974. He stayed with KDKA until his retirement on May 25, 1988.

His daughter Robin followed him into the business and has been on the air for many years, including a long stretch in New York. She is also very busy as a commercial voiceover specialist.
