I don't know how the hell I'm supposed to get any work done, with all the great stuff coming up on line, at www.pittsburgholdiesradio.com!
Terry Lee, who I spoke to the first time, the day before Halloween, was royally pissed off at the way Porky was handled at WEDO (among many other similar situations). He's still smarting from a 1971 appearance Porky made on The TL Show on WIXZ, shortly after he left WAMO the first time, where the 333 phone exchange was almost shut down from the barrage of calls Porky received; they even had to ask listners to stop coming to the station (Terry aired the tape last week). The appearance made the local news and there was talk about Porky joining WIXZ. It never happened, due to inaction by the station. Terry said he was damned if he was going to let him languish again and invited him to join the Magic Communications Network to do as he wants--without a dollar bill hanging over his head, with that pay-to-play radio horsedump. Terry sent his computer guru/engineer Joe Parknavy to The Chedwicks to set up the broadcast equipment last Friday and will return today at 4 to help take Porky's 63 year career in a 21st century direction.
It may surprise people to find out that Terry had only met Porky 3 times, before this past weekend. They apeared together at Linden Grove in Castle Shannon, where Terry said they had their first real conversation.
He showed Porky how the computer works to play music, not realizing that all Porky was probably able to see was a glow from the screen. It was when the waitress brought their dinner up to the DJ booth and Jean cut up Porky's food and told him where the utensils were that Terry realized Porky's essentially blind.
