The question of ABC-FM calls came up here a while ago, with no less a figure than Allen Shaw himself weighing in. Here it is:

I seem to recall the Vox Jox item about "amateursville" garnering a peevish reply a week or two later from Steve Berger, WDVE's GM, with Vox Jox writer Claude Hall clarifying what he meant as having to do with the inconsistency of the ABC-FM stations' sound. By year's end, ABC-FM stations would be nothing if not consistent.
