I followed Doug from his beginnings in Pittsburgh on 3Ws and his "dating" show hooking up listeners. I believe he said his first day or so in Pittsburgh his car was broken into and all his records and everything stolen. I enjoyed his oldies record programs as well. Everytime I see Blazing Saddles on tv or the Godfather I can't help but think of him. I enjoyed the trivia shows with his panel of 'experts'. He just could entertain the listeners. About the only thing I did not care too much for was when he and his producer buddy would get carried away entertaining each other and sort of cutting out the listeners. He lost his mom and then losing his good buddy suddenly and then losing his radio job just really took him to some deep places. It was so sad that this man who was such good company to the listener had to pass away totally alone
