There's the other side of this, too -- names that sounded like they were made up, but were legit.

Jack Bogut says that when he first came to KDKA and was told the afternoon guy was "Clark Race," he figured it was a fake air name. That was Clark's real name.

When Jimmy Roach first showed up at WDVE in 1973, the station was still perceived as "underground" radio and a lot of people thought the name was some sort of stoner reference. But that was his real name, too.
