gentlemen; mr siedlecki in his last three years before being unceremoniously shown the door was 23 wins 7 losses overall and 16 wins and 5 losses in the ancient eight. why mr beckett in his infinite wisdom would let the current situation to remain for another season is very perplexing at best.

Old blue is right. My guess is with 20/20 hindsight Beckett may be regretting his decision on Siedlecki - or to put it another way - what other Ivy AD would fire a coach who had records of 8-2, 9-1, 6-4 in his last 3 seasons. Thought they only did to that to HC's in the Power 5 conferences.

Old Blue and Remember It Well have it just right. To me, this was the sad side effect from an overly developed obsession with beating a rival. We dismissed a perfectly fine head coach because of recent losses to one school. But this is obsessing over one tree when any meaningful evaluation of any head coach must consider the entire forest.

There's too much noise in any given two or three games against any opponent, especially against a strong program, when a mistake is likely to be costly. Yale must start focussing on whether a coach has the ship pointed in the right direction, not whether it happens to dodge one particular iceberg a year.

The exaggerated obsession with Harvard also has other negative side effects. You think Tom Williams tries the fake punt on 4th-and-22 against Dartmouth? No way. That was solely and entirely a result of *HIS* obsession with stamping his personal mark on the history of the rivalry.

gentlemen; mr williams fourth and twenty two fake punt call with the league best punter with the wind at his back having a superlative day was the biggest bone head move ever of ivy lore.
