I don't disagree, but I think blaming playing freshmen in games is overstated.
Many of the injuries plaguing Yale over the past 5 years have taken place off-season or in practice, not in games. Those can't be blamed on playing boys against other schools' men.

Something (or things) is definitely wrong with the system.

Maybe Tony should order some of those Dartmouth tackling robots, and plaster pictures of his face on them - give the kids something to tee off on!

Beckett should have been more pro-active in determining what is "wrong with the system." The injury problem has clearly been a troubling issue during Reno's tenure and the attempt to remedy the problem with this year's announced improved strength and conditioning program combined with some changes in the nutritioning has obviously not worked. If anything there were more injuries than last season. Whether or not Beckett decides to keep Reno, for the sake of player safety, he should hire a consultant to do a thorough assessment of the history of injuries over past couple of years and make an empirical determination of possible root causes that can be remedied. It would seem any new coach would want that to be done too. Without a more rigorous analysis to determine what might be wrong gives the impression that the AD office is just blaming this whole issue on bad luck. Maybe it is just that -sometimes a couple of deviations from the norm are through no ones fault, but at least make the effort to show everything has been looked at.
