It's been a few years since my last trip to the bowl, but I always had the impression players were in more danger of drowning than a getting a boo-boo.

Depth vs injuries may be a chicken or the egg argument , but I think both Voy Vey and RIW prove my point my noting there were only two running backs in 2015, Salter and Rich. I predicted before that season started on portal 31 that the lack of depth at running back was very concerning. When two injuries at a key position forces you to turn to a CB there' is a depth problem.

Many have noted that this year's recruiting class is too heavy on line backers. Other years were very heavy on tight ends. Others very high on QB's. These unbalanced recruiting classes has caused a lack of depth at other positions when the inevitable injuries occur.

My theory is Reno is more concerned with getting the best athletes possible than strategically filling out the roster. Maybe he is fixated on how many three star ratings he can acquire.

As for injuries, I don't have the numbers to compare. But anecdotally it seems like Dartmouth claims to have had a lot of injuries this year too.

I have a hard time believing that grass fields would cause more injuries than artificial surfaces, should be the other way around.
