There are still alumni out there who could influence an Ivy League president on football policy, if they only had the mind to do so. I bet President Salovey would listen carefully to Stephen Schwarzman if he were to advocate for a renewed emphasize to the football program. $150mm donations and access to the Ptesident of the United States is hard to ignore. Governor George Pataki is another alum who could lobby Salovey for football playoff participation. I'm sure there are many more with the influence to initiate change, or at least to get it on the agenda at the next Ivy Council Presidents meeting.

If you think speaking or dealing with an Ivy President is an edifying experience, you've never spoken or dealt with an Ivy President.

Pataki is well known to be a loyal alum and enthusiastic Yale football fan. No idea if Schwarzman is a football booster or not. The reality is they both have bigger fish to fry than lobbying Salovey for football playoff participation.
Waiting to see if there are any alums out there that could influence football policy seems to me like "waiting for godot".
