Calvin, your unsult aside, the President-elect said what we all know: It's not the SEC that's usually carried by CBS, but it's the most competitive and played by future heroes.

The truth is not an insult. It was compelling football and, thus far, the best game of the year.

Just because something is true doesn't make it polite to say it. That was the wrong time and place for Trump to question the quality of play of the service academies.

To answer your question: the truth. And the truth is: that while Trump may be an ass...., he's our ass.... Praise the Lord, snap the ball and pass the ammunition.

We know it's not the SEC, but his shade was totally gratuitous and unjustified. Navy was a ranked team this year and both squads probably have some NFL level, or nearly so, players. He has no business denigrating players who not only play at a level he could never attain, but who also do so while electing the rigors of an academy life instead of a cushier football centric school, rather than, like he did, avoiding service through a patently bogus excuse (not unusual for his generation, but nevertheless weaselly and giving him no basis to judge).

Without going into detail, I have some knowledge of how he treated his kids with the same conditional approval. As said by others above, it's what he is.

Though unlike NAPS, Choate doesn't pay its players $1000 a month stipend.

Depends on what you mean by "SEC football." For example South Carolina (3-5 in league) defeated ECU by 5 points and barely beat UMass. Navy defeated ECU, on their field, by 35 scoring an SEC-like 66 points, and they defeated a then-top 10 team (Houston).

I have no doubt that with their starting QB they would have gone .500 or better in the SEC playing Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Missouri, Mississippi, and others.
