Depends on what you mean by "SEC football." For example South Carolina (3-5 in league) defeated ECU by 5 points and barely beat UMass. Navy defeated ECU, on their field, by 35 scoring an SEC-like 66 points, and they defeated a then-top 10 team (Houston).
I have no doubt that with their starting QB they would have gone .500 or better in the SEC playing Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Missouri, Mississippi, and others.
