Thanks Floridared! I like the size of the OL recruits they are bringing in.

I'd like to see more (and bigger) D-linemen on the list; that is an area where we have just not been sufficiently competitive with the top Ivy teams

He plays both. Had over 80 tackles,4 sacks and a pick 6 his senior year and holds the school career tackle record. Plus the 4500+ rushing yards, 70+ tds, 3 kick return tds

Thanks for posting this, looks like another great class, I didn't see these three on your list:

Turner DePalma DB 5'9" 170 Ithaca, N.Y.
Erik Andreassen LB 6'3" 195 Ft Laud., FL
Dominick Anderson WR 6'4" 190 Staten Island, N.Y.

The size and length of the OL in the last few classes has improved tremendously and could lead to improvement next year. The skill positions are young and look good. Agree wholeheartedly with the comments that DL is where the focus needs to be. That was the biggest difference in Cornell competing for the Ivy League title this year, greater size and length on the DL, there is a lot to be encouraged about in Ithaca.

Go Big Red!

No...the biggest difference right now in Cornell competing in the Ivy Leavue is coaching. You have to develop talent. Period. Yes, we have to get bigger on the DL, but I prefer tough and more talented. The past few offensive line classes have been tall, but that doesn't mean they have been good. On film they were not impressive as a whole. Many looked like big projects that we will have to see if they develop. Some of the big OL in previous classes were 6'8 playing on the interior of the line in high school, which stood out to me.

Thanks for the recruiting posts! Let's hope these kids can play. Yes I agree defensive line needs to be a priority. I also think we need to switch to a 4-3 defense, because we just don't get the talent for a 3-4. If you're going to play the 3-4 then you need three huge and fast DL where a 4-3 is probably better with more average size DL players.

Will Swope anchored State College’s offensive line this season.

He said he learned from playing alongside Doug Swoboda and Mark Weakland last season as they pushed him to get better at practice and in the weight room.

He adopted that leadership role this year.

“I kept up that mentality, helped guys if they were having a bad day or something, helped them get through things,” Swope said. “If they were slacking a bit in the weight room, maybe helped push ‘em more to help them get better and get them ready for next year.”

On Tuesday, Swope earned a spot on the Pennsylvania Football Writers All-State Class 6A Team along with Little Lions teammates Pete Haffner and Noah Woods.

Next year, Swope will be playing at Cornell. He finished his State College career as an all-state lineman.

“Thinking back in ninth grade, I never had the idea that this could happen,” Swope said. “I’m just so happy that something like this could happen.”

Big kid at 6'6" and 275. Hopefully he can bulk up to a "Harvard" sized offensive lineman. Here is his Hudl report.

The switch to a 4-3 defense is an intriguing idea. This seems like it would better adapt to our personnel. After what happened vs Princeton and Penn it will be interesting to see what changes are implemented this Spring.

The Big Red should have a winning record next year.

I highly doubt Cornell would actually switch back to a 4-3 as defensive coaches have their philosophy about their scheme and are usually not willing to change. For many teams the 3-4 is a very good scheme when you have big athletic defensive linemen. However, that has not been the case at Cornell over the years and I think looking at a scheme that works for the talent we have is the best approach.

Thanks for updating the recruit list. Looks like Cornell brought in 29 recruits each of the two previous classes so I suspect there's 3-4 more recruits yet to be added.

Is any really complete without the 40 times?

Or alternatively, a HS coach affirmation that he/she is "really fast"?

"Is any list really complete without the 40 times?"

And in retrospect, I suppose in these times a HS coach would be inviting career termination by making such a statement about a female recruit.

Thanks for the list. I just found this forum through a google search. I wonder why the official Ivy League Sports website doesn't support one? This a great source of information! I like the "nickname" thoughts just hope some of these players make the Big Red a better team.
