James Perry and Keith Clark ( Lafayette class of 85) are both supposed to be interviewing for the Lafayette head coach job. Other strong candidates appear to be the OC for UT-Chatanooga, Princeton grad John Garrett, a current Penn State assistant and John Troxell of F&M.

A few guys with Ivy connections, and whomever we select should improve upon our past situation.

While I hope Coach Clark gets it if he wants it, his departure would be a big blow to Dartmouth. He's widely regarded as one of the best offensive line coaches in the business.

...as being a highly touted O-Line coach?

Apparently that's not the same as being a highly-touted Offensive Coordinator?

While Jim Knowles definitely got the Cornell football program back in the win column, he struggled on the East Hill with admissions and financial aide. He's had tremendous success as the DC at Duke and I wonder if he's interested in becoming a head coach again. On the other hand Duke may pay him more as a DC than most Ivy or Patriots would pay him as a head coach. Regardless he's a talented football coach.

The favorite appears to be John Garrett if message boards are to be believed.

Hard to believe it was seventeen years ago he was the favorite of many of us to succeed Steve Tosches.

Sigh.

I believe it will be John Garrett, and an announcement will be made this evening at 6. It appears Perry and Lamb will be staying put for another year. Not sure if Garrett and Clark know each other, but wonder if Clark would come as OL/co-OC/ assistant HC? Is he sore about being demoted?

Clark is a Lafayette alum and our OL has been awful. It would make sense for Garrett to prioritize landing a really good OL coach.

I'm no insider, but I'd imagine that if Lafayette offered Clark more money than whatever Dartmouth is paying him, he'd bolt.

We love Clark, but hard to fault a guy for going back to his alma mater with more compensation.

We will see...
