I know it sounds crazy but I would not surprised if Pegula made an offer to Nick Saban he could not refuse. On the surface, Saban is sitting peachy at AL but it is well known his ego wants to succeed in the NFL (just like Steve Spurrier did when he jumped). I know Saban already tried the NFL with Miami but now that he has proven all that needs to be proven at the college level, he does have instructions to his agent to listen to pro jobs if they come inquiring. It already happened once we know about with the NY Giants calling. They only gave him a few hours to make up his mind and it did not happen.

It is a totally an ego thing and with Saban getting up there in age, he knows he is on the clock to either do it or live with the regret he did not try and conquer the best.

If Nick Saban were to return to the NFL, especially if he went to a downtrodden franchise like the Bills, it would be an enormous risk, given the ego issues described by Al's Wingman. At his current pace at Alabama, he would retire as literally the most accomplished coach in college football history. Going back to the NFL would put all of that at risk.

Two of the many reasons that Saban wins in college is that (1) he is a very skilled recruiter; and (2) he can get 19- and 20- year-olds to follow a strict regimen with exception. Neither of those skills translates well to the NFL.

What I mean by ego in Nick Saban's case is he wants to prove he is the greatest coach at all levels. This is my theory based on following his career for a while and seeing how other guys like him operate. You wouldn't think Steve Spurrier would care about coaching the pros when he was at Florida and winning but he went to the Redskins.

These types of guys are rare and winning national championships is a great thing but it is not the top of their professional bucket list. Who cares about recruiting when you can win super bowls.

Buffalo is a risk but they have money to spend so why not.

And, he would have a smaller payroll to worry about.

I could sort of see him making the switch, but not to Buffalo. If his ego is that important he would want a bigger media venter.
