Here Iam MR.1234 Am i happy no. We just went threw a 3-7 season embarrassed by penn on nationally tv boy that was great for recruiting. We have a penn coach who has coached two years and has two titles. How many does Reno have ?. A coach who is banned from recruiteing in some high schools and a JV squad that was beat down by Harvard by 68-0 And you want me to be happy. Saw my first Yale game in the late 50 and this was the most disappointing and difficult season to watch.Hope Reno makes some changes with the offense its very inconsistent and there is no creativity by coach Conlin. If changes are not made on offense Mark my words ever one will want his head by the third game. Mr fan you want something positive WIN A TITLE.

I thought Reno's contract was guaranteed for the next 10 years after the big win over Harvard!

The need for affirmation begins anew.

If you can't lord it over someone, you make fun of them. Boosts self-esteem, for some people. The needy ones.

Poor O's been quite deflated since 11/19; he can't have much going for himself. As for Pilgrim, the Wampanoags must have gotten him.

Good one about Just a Pilgrim. I liked that guy. Brought something new to this musty board.

Just A Pilgrim was certainly a breath of new air, if not fresh air. Although his act wore thin quickly, if only because his type is so prevalent on other message boards, not just sports message boards. I would have hoped he would demonstrate the strength of character to post every once in a while after Princeton and Penn carried away the title he had assumed would be Harvard's.

The endless chest-pounding, the ridiculous braggadocio. . . . We read it all day because it's at the bottom of any article on ESPN or any sports website. We are amused by Observer's need for affirmation, but that is universal on most sports websites. One would hope that graduates of top universities are getting their affirmation from some achievement more substantive than an alma mater with winning sports teams.

Sometimes I can barely believe some of the posters here are Ivy League graduates but, overall, the level of discourse is an order of magnitude higher than on most boards. Just A Pilgrim was just a messenger from one of those boards, nothing special.

it's just not worth the effort knowing Y alumni don't care about going 3-7 as long as there's a W agains H. They'll be .500 again next year and again no one will care!

He's one of those coaches that is in over his head but like clockwork he pulls out some key wins. It wasn't just Harvard to cap the 2016 season.

I don't think he is the right man for the job but it's hard to dislodge a HC with a teflon like quality. I know all about those types being in silicon valley. Amazing how they stick around on some kind of shady but true luck.

Whats hurting Yale are the posters with all their hate. You would think they were from rival universities. Do you really think airing dirty laundry is helping? Do you think prospective athletes investigating schools that come across these posts think, wow I want to be a part of that?

SO if you are not a troll. Not from a competitor. And truly love Yale, make a difference and target your concerns to the administration. Airing them on a message board is only hurting. Its like disgruntle employees posting on Yelp.

There are 100+/- athletes who do not appreciate hearing they suck, their coaches suck, theres no hope, we are all doomed.

Constructive criticism is not trolling. In the bigger schools, boosters, politicians, media and fans pile on coaches, prospective recruits, players for anything and everything, on Twitter, newspapers and in-person. This is merely honest speculation by the few devoted fans our program maintains, because we sure as hell don't get any actual media coverage or substantial information from the program.

Many of us just think we can do a lot better than we are doing now. At least on paper, we are consistently landing some of the top recruiting classes in all of the FCS five years straight. Contrary to your assertions, I think our players are wonderful continuations of the Yale scholar-athlete tradition, who I am glad will experience the same best four years I personally had.

But when your team is giving up 40, 50, 60 points per game, and the offense that was among the best in the FCS that knocked off Army suddenly unable to score, that raises some questions. The current coaching staff currently has the worst winning percentage out of any group that has led this program for more than two years in the 140 year history of this team.

Such criticism is cupcakes-level compared to what any staff would receive after such a tenure in a competitive program.

gentlemen; after shaking off the cobwebs of holiday festivities i thought i might chime in here. our blue squad of 2017 reminds me somewhat of the 1959 squad who had many emerging players who played significantly in the the undistinguished 1958 season.i look forward to seeing the development of our young signal caller, halfback, split ends and tackles.i am therefore very optimistic about the upcoming season.

As I watched our 1890 team, I remember thinking, we could be pretty good the next couple years.

They keep saying that Alabama has a chance to post the first 15-0 season in college football. Didn't Yale or Princeton ring up one or two of those back in the day? How about Penn? Penn used to schedule an inordinate number of games per season, like 16 or 17 a year.

Yes, we went 16-0 in 1894, but we were far from perfect. Williams, yes Williams, scored four points, Army got five, and, most shamefully, H ruined it all by scoring at all (another four).

... beat 15 colleges.

Yale played several athletic clubs/associations in 1894.

As far as I can tell from the media guide, Princeton never played more than 14 in a season and never won more than 12.

Looking at the old games (late 1800s/early 1900s) in the guide is fascinating. It was not unusual to win by 50 or 70 or even more to nothing, but the schedule included athletic clubs or even a prep school like Lawrenceville, plus the famous (and now banned-name) Carlisle Indians. In 1892, PU won 12 games by an AVERAGE of about 40-0, and it lost to Penn and Yale by average of 9-2. I was also intrigued by tidbits like hockey legend Hobey Baker also being captain of the football team (1913), and games played versus Georgetown at turn of the last century (and probably in the same Georgetown stadium).
