Yale beat UConn in hockey today 4-2 despite Uconn's efforts to build a strong national program with a team that includes 7 NHL draft picks. Yale is now 12-0 against its in state rival Uconn in hockey. Yale has struggled a bit with Quinnipiac, but they beat them when it mattered most to claim a National Championship in 2013.

In basketball Yale has now won 11 straight games against in state rivals. This streak includes beating Uconn in 2014.

Yale has the best collegiate Lacrosse program in the state. Yale has been closing the gap with Uconn in football as UConn's program is degenerating. Great job Thomas Beckett! Keep going! Baseball should be next to make the leap.

They haven't beaten QU since that championship game.

However, hockey and LAX are the only sports where Yale has a realistic shot at winning an NCAA title.

Yale has a good chance of beating Quinnipiac this year.

Well, there have been a few ties, but 0-3-3 the last 3 years is nothing to brag about.

On the other hand, they have had good success against Harvard the last 4 years, a period during which H has had the best player in the country (Vesey). It will be tough to beat H this year, they seem loaded.

Until Quinnipiac wins a National Championship Yale has bragging rights.

I said Yale has been closing the gap on football with Uconn. The football programs are much closer today than they were 10 years ago. That is evident by the recruiting and Saragin rankings. In 2014 Yale beat Army and Army beat Uconn so there's a good chance Yale would have beaten Uconn in football if they had played that year.

I would love for Yale to have s chance to prove they can compete with UConn on the Gridiron but Uconn refused Yale's request for a two game series. Probably becease they knew they could loose one of those games.

You could say the same thing about Dartmouth owning Nrew Hampshire now that Dartmouth beat UNH in both football and basketball this season.

Having the best collegiate teams on our respective states is how Ivy League schools will put fans back in the seats.

A clean sweep for Dartmouth over UNH in all three sports. That should buy Dartmouth teams a lot more local media attention.

I would add that Harvard owns Massachusetts in Basketball.

Hoping Harvard is beginning another basketball run in Massachusetts, but last year Harvard lost to UMass, BC, Holy Cross and NE and this year Harvard lost at UMass and to Holy Cross. Likely, later this season (maybe even by now) when Harvard's 7 freshmen are more experienced, Harvard will again own Massachusetts basketball, although I do note that each of NE (95), Harvard (129), BU (139), UMass (130), BC (162), and Holy Cross (187) and are somewhat tight in KenPom rankings. Not so much for local opponents MIT and Fisher.

Princeton was presented with the opportunity to play Rutgers in football in 2019, but Surace so far has chickened out. Think of what a Princeton victory over Rutgers would do for Princeton football. They could market themselves as the best football team in New Jersey for the first time in over 40 years.

A Princeton victory against Rutgers is not out of the question. This year Sagarin rated Princeton at #129 and Rutgers at #150 and predicts a Princeton victory if they had played each other at Rutgers.

Is owning New Jersey worth the headaches?

We enjoy owning parts of Connecticut and New Hampshire.

My impression is that Holtsie is perfectly willing to cede the Nutmeg State as long as he can keep the grey poupon.

If you can't get in a stadium, I'm not sure it qualifies as Great American Mustard.
