florida lion, if "lion: means you're from Columbia, I'm surprised at your pettiness in not counting Lou Gehrig, the most famous Light Blue athlete of all. True, he was pulled out of school by the Yankees after his junior year, but he was forever known as "Columbia Lou," not someone to be dismissed on a technicality.

Obama was at Columbia only two years, and nobody ever saw him.
Gehrig was there three years and was a sports immortal and a great gentleman still loved today, eight decades after his untimely death.

I think it's fair and accurate to say that Gehrig was from and of Columbia.
Especially when the NCAA is fine with "student"-athletes skipping to the NBA after one year of college hoops warmup, plus whatever it is with the NFL, two or three years.

So then you're saying that Obama is not in a professional sports hall of fame? Got it.

I'll give you credit for one thing, though. Most posters on this board will stand by virtually anybody who graduates from their alma mater (e.g., Joe Paterno), especially if he's the first non-HYP undergraduate alumnus POTUS from the Ivy League.

Interesting that the first two non-HYP Ivy graduates to occupy the White House both inspire such vitriol from some of their fellow alumni.

Bingo.

Although to be fair, no one remembers the Orangehead, either.
