Oh please. How many of those guys do you think the writer has seen in person? How on this green earth can he compare 118 against 153? He's using self-reported "offers." Garbage in, garbage out. It's a joke.

I confess I have never heard of "Hero Sports."

I think our national oversupply of sports analysts must be rivaling that of lawyers.

The difference is that, in the case of most occupations, if there is a surplus of labor, the price of that labor comes down. Consumers can choose to consume more of that lower priced labor and there is a net benefit for society. At a minimum, the impact of more supply is neutral, as in the case of more sports analysis for fans to read.

In the case of lawyers, when there is a surplus of practitioners, to keep food on the table, they need to start finding people to sue and legal actions to pursue. Between making defendants miserable and jamming up the courts, the entire system works more poorly.

Lawyers are literally one of the very few occupations where, when there is an oversupply of labor, there is a net decrease in value for the economy and society.

What we need are more analysts for the sports lawyers.

Based on the rankings of Yale recruits over the past two years (2016-2017) and the usual time it takes for incoming talent to evidence their full potential, we ought to be seeing some signs this season of a championship contender by 2018. The win over Harvard has given Reno a grace period to try and show he is more than just a capable recruiter. Let's hope he succeeds. If he doesn't there will be much skepticism over the meaningfulness of FCS recruitment rankings

I like the author's optimistic analysis of Yale. It's refreshing to see for a change:

"Yale in the top 10? Really? Um, yes. The Bulldogs -- once again -- are proving that within the next year or two they're going to be competing for Ivy League titles. The commitment is obvious, and they've wrestled recruits away who were courted by Arkansas, Duke, Iowa State, Southern Miss -- the list goes on and on. Last fall, Yale played several freshmen -- not redshirt freshmen, mind you, real freshmen -- and it proved to be a good idea. The season-ending win over Harvard is an example of where this program is going, and the 2017 recruiting class is an exclamation point. Getting an SEC level talent like Awodiran is a testament to the job the Bulldogs and the Ivy League in general is going."
