Hey a sport this league is really good at. Cornell opens with a very tough game at Penn State (2-0) on Saturday. Weather looks great with sunshine and in the 50's. The Big Red is loaded with young talent, but probably a season away from being am NCAA contender. Should be a fun season.

And Yale also has good opener, at Villanova, that will be followed by a road game against national finalist Maryland. Bulldogs are in top ten in all the top ten preseason polls. Coming out of these games with a split would be an acceptable start to Yale's season.

I know Cornell has a young team but we got smoked to 20-10 vs penn state. We obviously we're not ready to play today. Maybe we should bring Richie Moran out of retirement as I guarantee you he would have had our guys ready to play.

Dartmouth women opens up the Spencer era by beating UMass Lowell 11-9.

We had beaten them 18-2 last season.

Hmm....

Our women smoked UNH today.

We barely beat them last year.

Brown put up 25 on Quinnipiac today! Impressive start for a team with a ton of turnover, including a new coaching staff and an almost entirely new cast of attackers.

Big Question: Does anyone know if All-American attackman Ben Reeves will be playing after collision/hamstring injury last weekend vs. Villanova?

Cornell plays Hobart in a very tough game on Saturday. Hobart played a very competitive game against Penn State who blew us out last weekend. Hopefully the Big Red comes to play this week. Cornell and Hobart should move the game to Friday as the weather looks very unsettled for Saturday.

Maryland hangs on to withstand strong Yale second half comeback, winning 12-11. Yale held its top player Ben Reeves out of action, despite announcers saying he looked ok in warmups.

My prediction is that Yale will remain in top ten despite the loss. No. 6 Syracuse loss to Army on last second goal probably knocks them out of top ten.

Good that Ivies have 3 teams in top 20, let's hope we can get three invites to NCAA tournament.

The score might as well have been 26-8 because Hobart just dominated the Big Red today. They were much more physical than Cornell. Jeff Teat was a good high school player, but at only 160 lbs he's probably not ready to play at this level yet as Hobart's defense pounded on him all day. He had a couple of goals, but turned the ball over at least four to five times. Our defense was just man handled by the Hobart midfielders as well. I don't mean to be so critical, but it was obvious today that Hobart spends a lot more time in the weight room than Cornell, as they were just so much more physical and dominated play.

Big win for Penn. The big challenge is to maintain the momentum against a really strong Penn State team which would love to beat the team that beat Virginia
