Subject: Maryland Championship Banner, Harvard Anti-Banner

Yale lacrosse is playing Maryland right now on one of the minor ESPN channels. The Terps have a banner, actually a large placard, resting on the field listing conference championships won. There are so many years listed that it's difficult to read them because the font is so small. It would literally be impossible to read the years from the stands of the stadium.

Now THAT is a championship banner.

I remember traveling to Harvard to see a basketball game after the Crimson won their first men's championship in 2011. There was this one lone banner saying "Men 2011" surrounded by about ten women's banners. It looked so sad and solitary. Obviously, that first banner has been joined by several friends since then but, initially, it was like the anti-banner, highlighting the program's challenges under HYP academic policies more than its success.
