How about this as a surprise development? Michigan lacrosse was a club sport until 2012. Penn State basically treated lax as a de facto club sport until they raided us for Jeff Tambroni in 2010.

The Big Ten didn't even sponsor lacrosse as a conference until 2015. But now we see #2 Maryland, #3 Penn State, #6 Rutgers, #9 Hopkins, #18 Ohio State and Michigan is receiving votes in the poll. If you're in the Midwest, at this point in time you are not able to access local powerhouse high school lacrosse like programs in the East can.

It's amazing what the Big Ten has done in lacrosse over such a short period of time. The change has come via organic improvement as well as acquisition (Maryland, Rutgers and Hopkins).

Well done Dartmouth baseball, particularly against a year-round warm-weather baseball squad. You've made an excellent showing on behalf of the Ivies.

Funny thing is that Evan Boudreaux may not even be the best legacy on campus to suit up for the Green right now.

Trevor Johnson (son of Dartmouth alums) was a big reason why Dartmouth took the Miami series. He didn't get Ivy freshman of the week because a guy from Harvard put up better numbers against weaker competition. But expect to see his name quite a bit the next four years...

...the Ivy League Championship Series, Dartmouth head coach Bob Whalen, despite Red Rolfe success, has more than earned the sobriquet of "Bobby Bridesmaid". Have any other coaches in any Ivy sport come as close to winning it all with so few league titles to show for it?

I call him "Bobby Cox."

Terrific coach, great record. But would be nice if he had a few more championships.

Hopefully they get over the hump this year!

Great analogy with Cox, even sharing the same first name. At one point Cox led the Braves to 15 consecutive division titles, with only 2 WS rings to show for it. Whalen is the best coach at Dartmouth, so it would do him justice to win out several more times.
