From ESPN on line
"Nobody was facing a more difficult week than Princeton, a school new to the scramble.

The Tigers beat Yale on Sunday for the title in the first Ivy League tournament, where in previous years they would have clinched earlier by being unbeaten in the regular season.

The victory allowed for a brief celebration and not much more for Chris Mongilia, director of basketball operations for the Tigers.

"I kind of enjoyed it for a minute, and then my phone started ringing and emails started firing out, trying to figure out when we were going," Mongilia said Monday. "We found out our flight time this morning. We've been booking buses and hotels. It's been putting a lot of pressure on us to get everything done and organized. But yeah, it's been crazy."

Crazier still, the school is factoring in midterms for several players this week, squeezing them in before the team plays Notre Dame on Thursday in Buffalo. The team left Monday night by charter.

"A lot of our guys are going to have to take exams proctored by a professor who is going to have to travel with us," Mongilia said. "They are going to have to take them in a conference room up at the hotel in Buffalo. The storm has definitely put a few bumps in our travel plans.""

So midterm exams can be rescheduled around a post season basketball game. They can be proctored by a professor who will travel with the team so students can play on a weekday. A game btw played against a power 5 program on national tv. A game which much of the nation will be betting on through pools and bookies. Yet football players aren't allowed to play post season FCS playoff games on a weekend, with little money at stake, because of the stated potential conflicts with final exams. Hypocrites!

No, you don't understand. Spring semester exams are okay to miss.

Not sure if these facts are precise, but it appears you're comparing 15 kids taking midterms (basketball) to 60+ kids taking final exams (football).

And the problem with that is exactly what? Magnitude?

Having kids miss exams for games is not unheard of at all levels of college sports. If it is an acceptable practice, then the number of players on the team shouldn't matter at all.

I would think that missing exams and papers because you don't like the results of the Presidential election is setting a much worse precedent for any institution that values educational standards.

I don't recall the League saying the problem with football was the number of people affected, just that there was a problem interfering with the academic schedule, but perhaps someone can point to a statement otherwise.

Even so, what's the dividing line between "too many" and "not enough to care about"?
