A quick thought if we had Makai Mason this year another 8 to ten wins in the book.Great team effort this year by the boys. After the fifth game this year I saw a few things I thought could hurt the team. They showed there ugly head towards the end of the season.Yale was a good team this year not great. If they want to be great they have to start recruiting tall athlete physical players who will dominate in the post and score in the block. We have to recruit this type of player to keep pace with harvard penn princeton and the other ivy teams.Yale will be a different type of team next year with mason returning. Look for freshman to help early next year. Guard Azar Swain is a winner and Paul Atkinson is a physical player who will help on the the boards .The others will help with depth. Coach Jones and the players thanks for a exciting year GO BLUE . One more thing Jordan Bruner should play summer ball some where and hit the weight room, We will need him next year to score and rebound.

No question that Yale will be much stronger next year, especially if Makai Mason returns to form. Harvard will be better as well with those talented Freshmen become Sophomores. Penn with the development of the freshman B's will be tough and a contender for the Ivy crown.
Princeton is losing Cook and Weisz, but Gladson is a rising center and there are many good players on the bench along with Bell and Stephens.

The league will be extremely competitive and it is highly doubtful that any Ivy team will go through the year undefeated in league play. Should be fun.

Looks like a fun league next year for everyone not named Columbia, Brown, Dartmouth, Cornell.

Not saying much, true.

But the guys who are graduating were not impact players.

Green,
Are you guys getting any decent freshmen?? You need some good freshman so that Boudreaux won't continue to be quintuple teamed all of the time.

Short version is that we have a couple of guys coming in who had several mid-to-low major offers.

No one is really screaming "First Team All Ivy." But hopefully they can help us win games.

I haven't seen anything about the entering class. Have you? If it's a good one, Dartmouth could be much better next year. The new coach and the players did a fine job. They were a real team by year's end. Their Ivy record did not reflect their substantial improvement.

Boudreaux was as good as any player in the Ivies this year. He carried the team. Assuming normal improvement in a couple of the freshmen who played a lot this year, plus a good recruiting class, Dartmouth could be very tough in '17-18.

This site reviews all of the recruits for all of the Ivy Teams. Here is Dartmouth

If you look at the ratings given to players on that site, you will see, first, that Dartmouth's recruit ratings on paper seem largely comparable (mostly 2 stars) to those of other schools (such as Yale (Mason, Oni) and Princeton (Weisz, Cook, Stephens); maybe not quite as much for Harvard, and second, that their recruit star ratings have been relatively constant for several years.

Yet the disparity of results on the court has been severe. Clearly there's a lot more to go by than just counting the number of stars, at least when you are looking at "2 star" recruits.

HYPP keep pushing the performance ceiling, and Columbia and Cornell don't seem far behind. Even if Dartmouth is "better" than last year, if everyone else is "more better," it's losing ground.

Perhaps the extra wins will come against our nonconference opponents.

They definitely got better by end of year. But they were listed as the "underachiever of the year" in the Ivies. This was a major step back in a year where we were supposed to improve considerably. No reason that Penn should have surpassed us this year. I don't blame the new coach because it takes time to adjust. But at the end of the day, we fell back to the depths of D1 due to shooting ourselves in the foot.

Don't sell my Lions short. Mike Smith, our tremendous freshman PG, will have had the benefit of a full year under his belt after leading the team in minutes this year. Kyle Castlin, who would have been our best player had he not been lost for the season, will be back. Lukas Meisner, who lost half the year to injuries, will be back at PF. the highest rated incoming recruit in the IL, Jaron Faulds, ESPN 80 and 4 stars, is a 6'10" 225 pound front court player who should be an immediate starter. Two other outstanding recruits are Myles Hanson, a 6'6" top five MN scoring machine, and Gabe Stefanini, a 6'3" SG who is supposed to be the best pure incoming shooter.

FWIW, I hear good things about Knight for Dartmouth, Faulds and Hanson for Columbia and Cambridge for Brown. The top four classes in the league, though, belong to HYPP.

The gap is growing between BCCD and HYPP. It's entirely possible that we could have 4 Top 125 teams next year and any of Harvard, Princeton or Yale should have a good shot at being top 50 (feel like Penn might need one more strong class before it gets to that level). Not sure if any of BCCD can crack the Top 200 - maybe Columbia. Shaping up to take a run at a Top 10 league next year.

Why do you think that gap is growing?

First order, because HYPP are getting different level players. Second order - recent success, facilities, financial support for the program all put these those teams into better position to get those players than BCCD.
