Given the Tigers' dismantling of Penn, today's Yale match at Princeton may be the regular season title match, albeit early. Very odd indeed.

Very possibly the case, but don't discount Brown from title run yet. They played Rutgers closer than did PU.

But Yale first. For several years these games have been very close regardless of which team was supposedly stronger, so today will provide an interesting window.

A bizarre year all around -- three Big Ten teams ranked in the top four, and none of these are Maryland?

Tons of things can change in the next two months, and many of them will. But I suspect the Bulldogs are the only Ivy with the defense to play with the Tigers.

Saturday game moved to Friday at 2pm for ESPN3. Not ESPN, or ESPN2 or ESPNU. But the Internet broadcast. Must be a huge audience.

Yale controlling play, dominating shots. Tigers struggling at faceoff, how often have we said that in recent years. Sims still out with rib injury from last week.

Tigers still getting killed on faceoffs, which means major possession and shot advantage to Yale. Significant Tiger sloppiness on clears. Yale playing with great intensity.

Tigers need to understand that if they are not going to win faceoffs, they cannot be cavalier with their few possessions with risky passes and ill advised clears. Yale in control.

Teams likely to meet again in ILT, and both still in play for an at-large NCAA bids. Yale clearly stronger today, takes command of regular season.

Faceoffs 26-7
Shots 47-29
Pretty easy to understand the outcome.

Ground balls Yale 54-36. Some of that is uncontrollable bounces, but it looked like a lot of swatting going on, rather than pickups. Decidedly different than previous games.

I'm just following the highlights https://youtu.be/-quIHA_wqRE and have only seen Yale highlights before this one, first time seeing Princeton this season. Yale seems to have more finishers. Princeton has some top players but Yale was up for this match.

Also, just my casual observations but in previous games the Yale goaltender seemed a little off his game to me. I realize it is asking a lot to track and block a 90MPH lacrosse shot but his reaction time and flexibility does not seem as clean as goaltenders on other teams. He is slow. Fairfield picked him apart with low shots.

Yale M Lax is solid and well grounded, which, in the long sweep of my recollection, has been far from always the case. Very disappointed in this loss after upending the then number 3 team, and then a solid win against Penn.
