What say Beckett and Reno regarding the shameful situation regarding injured players exposed by the YDN?

gentlemen; i must confess this time of the year always draws my imagination toward our national pastime even though there is no more mr gehrig,mr di maggio or mr mantle's.i do suspect our blue will do some tinkering with new positions for our squad including mr locke and mr moore.i do wonder if mr hines will make a cameo appearance.

Let's not forget Mr. Bezney. Anent sports medicine- I wonder if all the undergraduates receive such shoddy attention.

With all due respect Tom, one of the biggest issues the past couple of years has been the Yale team's disturbing # of injuries and how it has impacted season results. Kind of hard to dismiss it from this thread when looking ahead at the upcoming season. The team looks pretty good to me in terms of the talent coming back. If they are able to reduce the # of injuries from recent years Yale could be closer to the top of the league than near the bottom. Much depends on the AD and the coaches getting their arms around the injury problem.

By all means, let's talk football. Let's also try not to mirror campus politics by dictating what gets said and where it gets said.

One of my concerns is a plain, vanilla offense as well as making adjustments. I am still not really sold on this staff. Harvard win earned Reno the honor of coming back this year.

well said OL. It was plainly obvious Harvard was having a bit of down season in comparison to what is expected. That left the door open for an inspired Yale victory to conclude the season. But, there is nothing to indicate Reno and staff are capable of lifting the program beyond that. It has been a pretty horrific defense for the most part. Brights spots on offense, notably a capable QB with a year experience now to build off.

gentlemen; mr mcgowan now fully anointed defensive coordinator's defensive schemes were a big improvment in last two contests.

Thanks for that big news Old Blue. Definitely the right call to end the co-defensive coordinators idea which clearly wasn't working. The change is confirmed on Yale's website:

i did not see the last couple games when Mr McGowan was allowed to spin his magic, but one hopes that the improvements included doing away with the previous policy of the Reno regime of giving the opposing team's receivers a 12 yard cushion at all times.
