Harvard's in the Frozen Four, and nary a peep about it on the board. April 6th versus Minnesota-Duluth.

In all honesty, I hadn't really been paying attention. Totally missed that we won the Beanpot for the first time since the early 90s.

Harvard had impressive wins over Providence and Air Force in the East Coast Regional. They will be going up against another #1 seed in Minnesota-Duluth. If Harvard can win it all it will make three ECAC National Champions in the last five years. That should be good enough to establish the ECAC as the preeminent college hockey league in the nation.

Beat Minnesota-Duluth!

Two hottest teams in the nation. Harvard 17-0-1 and M-D 15-1-3.

Denver, M-D and Harvard have been in top spots for almost two months, as each has refused to lose. Both M-D have comparable goaltending and scoring depth. Crowd in Chicago will likely give M-D a semblance home ice advantage.

Regardless of outcome, great season for the Crimson.

At least Harvard isn't playing in The Palestra.

Penn's fictional ice hockey team wishes it played at the Palestra, too

Actually, the Class of 1929 Rink was pretty nice. But budget cuts did them in. Same scenario nearly 20 years later did in the P wrestling program, but alumni rebirthed it. It took another 20 for the administration to treat the program in a serious way.

Penn still plays, though at Club level, at Class of 1923 Ice Rink:

We all want to be at least 6 years younger. I doubt there are many class members from 1923 who were offended.

that they have a club team. My son and a few others started Susquehanna's club team. I got to coach his team when they played the Bucknell squad although to say I was the coach was a bit of a stretch I was more door opener LOL

Didn't, Penn play at Cherry Hill Areana when they brought back hockey in the 70's? I recall them becoming quite competitive for a while. Good player named John Harwood from RI. I remember the Brown announcers getting a big kick out of the chicken wire above the sideboards, ala the old RI Auditorium before Meehan Auditorium was built in 1964.

Don't remember the rink, but their last coach Bob Crocker was a great guy and popular in hockey circles. Harwood name rings a bell.

Minnesota Duluth wins a heartbreaker over Harvard, 2-1. MD scores with 26.6 seconds left. Harvard hit the crossbar twice in the final 15 seconds after pulling its goalie.

Each of MD and Harvard had its moments. Harvard skated faster and better while a bigger MD roster worked the corners and behind the net.

Congrats to Harvard on a fine season including Ivy, ECAC and Beanpot titles.

Nice season for Harvard.

A LONG season - it began early October and lasted six months.
Meanwhile, football season ran for about 75 days.

Yet it's too intrusive to allow post-season football play.

It isn't that football post season is intrusive. It is that football -in terms of concussions and injuries in general -is a sport apart. Yes, there are injuries and concussions in other sports. But statistically not like football. The more you play, the greater chance for injury. Across the League (and beyond) it is of all the sports the one where injury affects the most number of people.
When the question for the League is increasingly how can we let students play football at all? I doubt we will be looking at post season. I can't see the Ivy presidents going there.

Yes, football is #1 in concussions.

Hockey is #2.

If Calvin is suggesting that its silly to justify an extended season for hockey--but not for football--on safety considerations, then he's absolutely correct.

Indeed, "safety" has never been an articulated justification by the Ivy Presidents for the football postseason ban.

AND OTHER INJURIES. MANY more in football across the League.
