My kids got me Roku Ultra for Father's Day. I'm not sure why I had put off getting it myself. I had the original Roku years ago but had gotten rid of it.

Now I can watch all Ivy Digital broadcasts on my large screen TV.

I happen to have a Smart TV, but if you don't, Roku operates similarly to Apple TV. You can get Netflix, Amazon Prime or any other subscription or free streamed service (Watch ESPN for example).

It does require an HDMI cable to your TV. I was lucky that I had one running through the wall so I could make the connection without any wires showing.

Don't know why I waited on this one. If you like watching Ivy League Sports you are as crazy (as I was) not to get a Roku.

I bought the Roku last year. The only problem is that the stream is significantly behind (a minute or two) the streamed broadcast on the internet. As a result, I'm just streaming the internet onto the tv.

If you have a smart TV you can surf the internet and stream it to your TV. You cannot surf the internet with Roku. If you have a smart TV, you don't need Roku

I have a Samsung. While you can surf the Internet on it, you can't access the Ivy Digital Network on it. You need Roku

I don't know why you need Roku. I have the Ivy League Digital Network on my computer and I can blue tooth it to my smart TV. My computer has a very large screen with outstanding resolution, so I just watch from my computer.

I was wondering the same thing. Though I guess it depends on what everyone's home and mobile setup is and what is easiest. I do a bunch of split screen stuff during the football season and have access to it throughout the house on a home network. There are so many games I like to check in and watch parts of whatever seems most interesting. I can't sit through a complete game end to end anyway.

Technology is advancing faster than my brain can keep up with. Fortunately I have a very bright Princeton educated son who helps me with this stuff.

There are many on this site that struggle. I was just trying to be helpful. Watching on a large screen TV is a lot better than watching on a PC or an IPad.

There are a lot of very smart young people in Silicon Valley whose job is to think up cutting edge innovations that we will have trouble internalizing.

That's their job.

I would not be too surprised if they keep a couple of Baby Boomers on staff as guinea pigs. When they have a new idea, they ask the Baby Boomer to use it. If he gets it right away, they know it's too passe'.

Same people who re-design web pages to make them less user friendly.

best thing to do is figure out what content appeals to you the most and make sure it is compatible with the devices you have. Carriers, devices, services are not made equal so evaluate as much as possible before purchasing.
