"John Lovett had surgery during the offseason, which stemmed from an injury he played with during the 2016 season and, unfortunately, did not completely heal during the offseason. The surgery was a success, and he will miss time this fall. He will continue to be a tremendous leader for our team, and we look forward to his healthy return to the field."

sorry to hear that, Princeton will miss his 30 TD's that's 3 a game. I hope he recovers and plays next fall. Maybe he and Mr 4 star will play together

Well no longer do I have Princeton as #1 swings back to Penn and now fav for POY "Elementary My Dear" Watson, still like Dartmouth as Deep State dark Horse if they can get OL together

Too much negativity coming out of Philadelphia with the transfers.

I think Harvard is the front runner.

Hope he can recover and eventually see the field.

The league is more fun when its best players are healthy.

Will soph Zach Kelly be the second QB now? Had 9,600 career yards and 96 tds as a QB and slot in Lousiana.

That's too bad as I didn't know that Lovett was injured, as I picked Princeton to sweep the league this season. I am sure the Tigers will still field a good team.

IMHO why would you come back for half a year, 2/3 maybe half but take your medical redshirt especially if Mr 4 star is the real deal

I am disappointed that he will be out because as I said earlier there hasn't been such a potent QB combo in the Ivies since Micky Beard and Gene Ryzewicz for Dartmouth in 1965

I gotta give Surace credit for stealing a page out of Blackman's playbook last year. You just "Gotta" Lovett

I''d agree in a normal year. But when you're the presumptive Ivy League Champion it's a differant story. They will roll the dice to get two championships in a row, even if that means they lose half a season of eligibility for Lovett. Besides, they have the four star QB coming in next year.

Tough break for Princeton, but Harvard and Penn have both lost important players and the Tigers and their new OC will need to adjust. The offense should still be very potent with talent and experience at OL, QB and RB and Horsted at WR, but without Lovett they will be easier to defend. Quinn Epperly's final year was uneven due to injuries after winning POY as a junior, I hope Lovett can return to form because he has a huge impact when he is on the field.

So is he gone for the year, or not?

Looks like they're being deliberately vague. My guess is he'll be back in time for the Harvard game.

Maybe Princeton doesn't need him to beat Columbia and Brown. And maybe Princeton doesn't care about OOC games.

But if he waits until Harvard to come back, he won't qualify for a medical redshirt.

He could follow the example of Cornell's Rob Pannell who withdrew from school the morning before his final exam after not playing at all, and get an extra season of eligibility. Same effect.

I don't have any reason to believe he intends to do such a thing.

Huge loss; makes the offense less multi-dimensional since no one presents the threat he does, and backed by 3 years of experience.

Not to denigrate other fine players in the League, but probably the single biggest offensive loss a team can suffer in the Ivies this year. He was not only the offensive POY. But unlike some other great Ivy footballers who could score throwing or running, Lovett could also catch TDs and when paired with another QB on the field, in tandem presents big problems for a defense. I hope he returns soon.

We will have to adapt.

Lovett was almost unstoppable in short yardage and goal line situations.

what is the injury, is it season ending or does he just need another month or so and he will return. Good questions all. Does Pton allow 5 yrs? If not and he can't make it back for number of games do you play 3-4 or if he can come back why not go for full season. He is an exciting dynamic player who I sure as heck would like to see if he could repeat last yrs successes. 31 TD'S is unprecedented and impossible to replace

Will be interesting to say the least Bengal

Oh BTW Cheers
