Seems like he fits better in the "Athlete" category than "tight end." It appears that he has played numerous positions in high school including quarterback, running back and defensive back.

At 6'5" 250, Drake Morey has the right size to be an impact player at defensive end. And thanks to Asia for noting Ryan Young's commitment, although I cannot find any confirmation on line.

Jake has just posted his Columbia 2017 team assessment. A great analysis.
My biggest concern is that there appears to be a huge stake in QB Anders Hill carrying the team. I believe he has the ability to pull off a great year, but it is very precarious to have a QB who runs as many plays as he does, not to get injured (he's not that bulky a guy)--and then is seems like the house of cards tumbles completely on the season. Every team will be gunning for him and there is simply too much riding on his staying healthy, I'm afraid to say. Sorry to be a downer, unless others see a real back up QB who can take his place if need be (?)...

Norries Wilson once said in his season preview that the key to a successful Ivy season is development of a backup QB.

To your point, Sean Bracket was a backup for MA Olawale. When Olawale went down Brackett came in as a freshman (I believe) and proceeded to be one of
Columbia's best quarterbacks over the last many years. Sean is currently a star QB in the Arena Football league

Dame was a three star recruit at QB with legitimate D1 offers who didn't see the field as a first year. I think the concern had been that he was on the light side. I would be curious to see him this year.

Sure lack of game time is a concern, but the existing talent pool is impressive so it is likely that Quarterbacks Coach Ricky Santos will not have much difficulty finding solid back-ups for Anders Hill. All three of the returning quarterbacks--Dame, Hong and Suitt--are promising candidates, and the two freshman quarterbacks--Bean and Davis--both led their teams to state championships in Illinois and Texas. Much of Fordham's recent success started with the use of freshman quarterbacks and wide receivers from Texas. Meanwhile, the Lions made a big position change yesterday at tight that could give them another downfield threat at that position to go with Josh Wainwirght and Ron Smith.

That is a surprise, I thought it might be one of the two freshmen tight ends. I know Briscoe is a good receiver but didn't think he was big enough for TE, maybe he has put on some pounds.

Briscoe is listed as 6'2"/210, not really impressive stature for a TE.

Looked at pictures/videos posted on the columbia football twitter today. Am I the only one noticing the players look way better, much more in shape and athletic. Even the OL has way less fat-bodies than past. Maybe things about to turn?

I see that the Saragin predictions have come out and they predict Columbia last, for what it's worth. As much as it is too early for predictions, these objective analyses, devoid of any emotional biases, are usually pretty accurate. Hate to think that's where were heading. As much as I see improvement in the "culture" and some wins, it is hard to stomach in our third year of rebuilding that we might be back where we started...or should Lion fans merely be pleased we don't have a winless season? Any more optimistic takes? Is there something possibly that the "experts" don't know, that might be less negative?
