Guys this years yale football team can be special . If we can stay away from injures to our running backs i know lamar is out and qbs we could surprise.Freshman will play early even sat at Lehigh. We have talented players and not just at running back. These kids can play. If the offensive line can no must be physical and play smash mouth football we will be an exciting team to watch. On the defensive side of the ball we will be tested early not just threw the air but on the ground to. If we play like we did at harvard and McGowan is in control and uses the same schemes we should to well.KICK SOME ASS YALE.

Sounds like every year under Reno. "Lots of freshmen will play, and play early." That's step 1 down the path of "well, we had another losing season, but we were young and had so many injuries, NEXT year those kids will have experience and watch out!!"
Lather, rinse, repeat.

When names like Awodiran, Sykes, et al don't appear on the depth charts it makes one wonder how many other players besides Lamar are already out because of injuries. Instead of Micah, two other freshmen Dean and Carey are on the 2 deep chart at LB; along with the expected shift of Foye to LB from DB.

Here's the YDN opinion of the rb depth or lack thereof:

Page 5 of the game notes has the two-deep.

Random thoughts:

* Are any other Ivies using the politically correct "First Year" designation to avoid triggering delicate souls who are forced to see/hear the world "freshman," or is Yale the "leader" in this movement?
I checked Princeton's and Harvard's game notes, they're still using "Fr"...for now. :rolls-eyes:
What's next, "AP" designation for Seniors (to indicate their "Age Privilege")?

* Former All-Ivy DT Copache Tyler rides the pine (granted, Crowle and Herubin are first-stringers as well).

* Two "first-year's" on the two-deep at LB, but neither is the touted Micah Awodiran.

* No Brian Sykes (5th year Sr. DB) on the two-deep. Yet, he's on the roster.

* Lots of position-swapping from last year...DE's moving inside, CB's moving to Safety, OT to C, vice-versa, etc. Hopefully not a concern. But, a potential crutch/excuse.

* Sorry to say, holtsledge, but Andrew Grinde's surname is pronounced "GRIN-dee". The Chris Berman-esque nicknames will have to be adjusted accordingly.

Gentlemen; I must say I raised an eyebrow or two at the designation of our linebacking crew for the engineer contest. Last years experient at the beginning of the season with mr opplinger at middle linebacker and Mr oluokun at outside linebacker was not successful resulting in their return to original positions. Our blue defensive coordinator Mr McGowan hopefully has more insight on the successful use of these players. I too am intrigued by the lack of news regarding mr andirwan who was slated to be the top recruit in the ancient eight.

When was the last time a returning all-ivy player did not start? Heard good things about Burke at LB, but scratching my head at the decision to put Foye there. He was not comfortable at LB last season. I'm hoping that maybe Marquise Peggs was so good in preseason that they couldn't keep him off the field.

I'm hoping there's a little gamesmanship at play in the initial two-deep. Starting Tyler on the bench is perhaps an effort to rekindle the intensity he showed two years ago. Same for some of the other moves. I recall ploys of this nature many moons ago.

Or, Andrew "Grinde And Bear It."

Although some callow readers and more mature ones may have become familiar with the poem if they watched Ben Affleck's movie "The Accountant."

How much longer will the football alumni tolerate a coach who has a sub-standard record and had created a lack of interest in Yale football? Anyone can RECRUIT to Yale. We need a COACH.
