Several sources suggest strongly Sheehan out and Columbia’s Santos in as Offensive Coordinator. Likely coach Quarterbacks.
Stay tuned.

Great hire, sad to see him go. Hill was much improved this season. I wonder how much he had to do with game planning for Lions?

Good luck to Coach Santos.

If true, it is a big step in the right direction. Santos is just the kind of coach Brown needs. He is a local guy who had an outstanding career at UNH. But most of all he is new blood.

Seems like Santos is trading (relative) job security for a promotion.

To put it mildly, Bagnoli seems more secure than Estes going into the offseason...

Can't blame him for choosing stability.

If Columbia remains competitive, he should get additional opportunities elsewhere.

Sourc s keep saying Santos to Brown-,
Estes is say what you will in dire need of a quality move.
It could not have been other than painful to make changes he made.
Hayes the AD has to support quality and geography as well as money,
If Estes has a vanilla hire he risks mediocre results leading to a shaky retention situation.
What is the answer.

HCE and Jack handled the Santos sitautation like they handled the last few seasons - a cluster! No Plan A secures nor a Plan B to have in the wings.

Now they sit here trying to recruit Offensive play-makers with no OC scheme to recruit the right players and no OC in place to evaluate talent to fit the system.

Another Cluster!!!

Where did it go wrong? As I advised he was granted a more grandiose title and more $$$ at Columbia ...unless you are willing to roll the dice at a new
at a new institution you play it safe...Brown does not need that kind of character...better he bailed ...

Brown does not need that kind of character???

You sit in judgment of character of a person you dont know, never met? Based on information you dont have?

Seems Santos character is strong enough that he did not flee a program he is invested in for more money and a bigger title at Brown. I have little doubt the money that comes with coordinator title is greater then whatever Columbia offered to have him stay. So he stayed for less money and less title, that is bad character?

Has Santos jumped around chasing better jobs? He is invested in Columbia, the players and loyal to the program. He obviously considered the job and did not trust the stability or commitment at Brown.

He knows what Columbia has, he looked at what Brown has and he chose to stay at Columbia. Deal with it dont sit and insult a man's character because you are a fan/alum of a flawed program.

Even if he stayed at Columbia for more money or a bigger title or role, that would not be a character flaw, especially if he has no particular, affirmative reason to want to leave Columbia. There are countless people of good character who decide to turn down an offer to take a job when a current employer matches or exceeds the offer.

...supporters of Columbia -- historically, arguably the most "flawed program" in FCS's existence -- are looking down, with turned-up noses, at other schools' flawed programs?!

I say that to emphasize how quickly things can change in a year's time, and not as a knock on Columbia supporters, nor Brown supporters, for that matter.

What a difference a year can make!

They are not looking down on anyone, they are in no position to do so. It is simply the offer of expert testimony.

No one is looking down at Brown. Simply looking down on directing frustrations over the current status of Brown's program at trashing a young coach's character

Respectfully, we don’t need anyone from Brown bad mouthing Santos or his decision. Santos was one of the best FCS QBs last twenty years, helped Chip Kelley Pioneer his offense, and I imagine will grow to be a stud coach. Being a young quarterback coach he probably knows exactly what he has in his QB room at Columbia, and probably didn’t have a great feel with what he may have at Brown. We will improve and there is plenty of great coaches out there. Coach Estes has a deep network, no surprise Santos was probably first choice. Maybe someday Santos will come on over to Providence and we would be lucky.

It must be strange to be someone like Santos and have complete strangers comment on and debate your career decisions and personal motivation. Did people do that before social media?

By the way, Santos's job description on the CU official site hasn't changed, and his salary is not public. So where did those comments come from?
