Glad my 2d favorite school made this hire. Should bode well for the future. FU's recently departed HC seemed to be in over his head as an HC.

gentlemen; congratulations to Coach Conlin wish him the best in this future endeavor. that being said hope the future offensive coordinator employs a more creative play calling scheme departing from the lombardi seven blocks of granite mentally.

Boring maybe, but he controlled the clock when it counted and won you an Ivy championship. Several on this board had wanted him gone and now he is. A new coordinator may mean a new offense. If so, everyone will start over: QB, RB, OL. Big learning curve. Let’s hope we can learn the new parts quickly.

I disagree, nothing will change. Reno knows what the winning formula is and has recruited well with that in mind. Win the ground game, control the clock, aggressive style defense equals success. Nothing to fix if it isn't broken. Sure teams will now key on Dudek but that will open up play action passes to TE's, counter plays and WR jet sweeps. Much like plays we have seen from other Ivy teams in the past.

Bow Wow, I hope you are right. Definitely an increased chance of keeping the same offense now that new OC has been named and is from within. I don’t know how much experience he has in calling plays or game planning?Run/pass balance along with creating the right game plan are key. I’ve seen many former QB coaches get caught up in stats and points scored by being pass happy once they get the play calling responsibility. That does not end well as our defense gets tired (from short possessions on offense) and there is no ability to run the clock/shorten the game once we get a lead without a sustained running attack.

Hopefully the new OC has some skills/experience in game planning and game management. With the OL we have and a stable of running backs, a run first mentality that wears down the opponents’ defense is key to continued success.

Yale’s offensive line has arguably been the most consistently high performing unit of any position group in the Ivy League for the last five years. Even the 2-8/5-5 bulldog teams had very strong offensive lines under Conlin.

He will be a tough replacement but we wish him well and expect Fordham to be winning Patriot League championships in no time.

It's been reported on the Yale FB Blog that Kevin Cahill will be the new Yale OC.

Should add it's an unconfirmed report, best classified as a rumor for now.

The players have been told that Coach Cahill will be O Coordinator and retain the QB coach title. Offense is expected to remain the same. They are looking for a new OLine Coach

I would think a open position on the current Yale's coaching staff would be very attractive right now.

Look for Conlin to try to bring McGowan and Asselta with him. Both were hires through his recommendations. All three have worked at UNH. My guess is it will be a bdding war for McGowan and Asselta would leave if made OC.

McGowan would be a loss. I would think being the DC for Yale is a better gig than DC of Fordham He should wait for a HC job, not jump ship for less.

Now if Asselta could move up to OC, thats a better move for him.

It is possible but why would they leave unless it was to be a HC at another university? After a couple more rings, I hope, they would be able to make that jump. Plus, are children of current Yale coaching staff automatically accepted to Yale University? If so, hard to give that benefit up for Fordham.

That’is fantastic, but good for Tony Reno also. Assistant Coaches are to go on and succeed. To reach higher an have your own program. Make your mark as it should be. Congratulations to Coach Reno in helping Coach Joe get there.Good Luck To ya

Coach Cahill appears to be well liked. Shouldn't miss a beat on offense next year. It's a little late for movement for other coaches on the team hoping coach McGowan stays for a few more years. Worried more about the loss of players on defense and where Yale stands at filling those positions.
