Just for fun, google for images of Alabama's locker room. On occasion, I've had the pleasure of enjoying facilities that nice but only because I gamble enough money at the attached hotel-casino.

Seriously, I kind of feel funny about the life-arc of some of Alabama's football players. Some of them come from severe poverty, will be treated like kings for four or five years and then return to very modest if not outright poor lives again. It's almost like teasing the kid to show him a brief glimpse of this lifestyle and then send him back to whence he came, like Dorothy getting a taste of Oz before returning to Kansas.

Don't forget the old saying that "There would be a revolution tomorrow if the poor knew how the rich lived."

This year I once had a caddy who is a student at Alabama. Nice kid, obviously academic and not an athlete, typical summer job for someone from modest circumstances trying to cover educational expenses who will probably go on to great things.

He said everyone understands athletes are are on exactly the track you describe. They all get fancy cars for 4 (or 5) years, club life, are well taken care of, then they either make in the pros or revert to pre-college life, but they have a college experience like no other.

Was this at Shoal creek? Might’ve been my son caddying for you.

No, it was my local club, but I would love to try Shoal Creek. Holtsledge is the only person I know who regularly gets on these exclusive venues. I imagine your son gets the chance to play there sometimes, lucky him.
