wanna meet me tmrow at F Prep to watch the real finals of the Class L states between Darien and New Canaan. It is going to be Ali Frazier with Darien being Ali and NC Frazier. It's hard to beat a team 3 times in a year but I am predicting we will hear this call when the horn sounds.

(I know I know it was Foreman that did it)

I love the invitation, Holtsie. I don't think that I can get there tomorrow. I'm crazy busy right now. (Yes, I realize that I could free up some time by posting here less often.)

I'll say this about Darien. Not only are they outstanding, they are clutch and come up biggest when the stakes are highest. I can't believe how many close games the Blue Wave have won late this season.

It *IS* hard to beat a team three times in a year, but I've seen enough Darien lacrosse this season to know when talent meets hard work meets tenacity. I am predicting a Blue Wave victory as well.

I recall when New Canaan was reclassified into Class L at the beginning of this year. Chip Buzzeo said he was happy about that and I thought, "Be careful what you wish for."

My favorite line in that article is the last one: "[Darien] head coach Lisa Lindley was unavailable for comment after the game." Given her high strung personality, I imagine that it was an explosive postgame scene.

I'm sure it's disappointing that the Darien girls' long winning streak against Connecticut opponents is over. But I actually think that it increases the probability that the boys win out. As you point out, the talent at Darien is superior. Seeing the girls lose might remind the boys that nothing is automatic and they need to stay focused and locked in.

in a squeaker D 8-NC 7 pretty amazing 3 game season long rivalry Darien won all three times by a combined margin of 4 goals. Can't get much closer than that. This was just the semis but I seriously doubt either team from the other side of the bracket has what one of my father's favorite sayings was "a snowball's chance in hell"

kinda wishing I had gone to the game

The game was tied 7-7 with 3:16 to play. As I said earlier, Darien is both uber talented *AND* clutch under pressure. No surprise they did it again. Darien reminds me of the great Tierney Princeton teams. When the game is tied late, somehow some way they find somebody to put it in the back of the net.

Congrats, Holtsie. Nice cool night for a whiskey to celebrate.

oh well will have to wait for another day, maybe one of these days. It will be a great game and Darien's FOGO needs to step up, if he does won't be close bc we have too much talent

Salisbury, Brunswick, Avon and a couple of others blow them both out.

The Salisbury "Steaks" or the Brunswick "bowlers" come close.
Remember in pre season scrimmage this yr The Blue Wave dominated the bowlers 13-7. Also Remember you argued that last yr a scrimmage( I think) was one of D's losses and a reason the "Steaks" should have been ranked higher in National Poll. This is a public HS team not prep school that adds PG's that has won now 75+ in a row. Give it up or better yet have the "Steaks" call up Coach Braimier and schedule a game or a scrimmage he takes on all comers and has for the last 10 yrs. You wanna know why they won't bc they are afraid of losing to a public HS.

talk about bitter, sorry coach you lost AGAIN
"“I’ve never been in a lacrosse game where you dominate the other team and lose,” New Canaan coach Chip Buzzeo said. “They got one more goal than us, that’s the only thing they did better than us today. We outplayed them, we did everything we could do, we just couldn’t put the ball in the net more than they did.”
COACH YOU NEED TO BE MORE GRACIOUS IN DEFEAT

do you want your participation trophies or not

Not a good look for Buzzeo.

they did early in the season. No result officially reported but Salisbury won by 3 or 4 goals. Not sure who won 75+ in a row but let's face it, D and NC recruit as vigorously as the prep schools.
