In olden days: Vegas math-based gaming skills > Ivy admissions offfice's math-based gaming skills > average punter's math-based gaming skills.

Nowadays: Ivy admissions office's math-based gaming skills >>>> Vegas math-based gaming skills > average punter's math-based gaming skills.

Yes, Boston Lion is correct.

Did you know that there are college admissions offices which routinely do things such as report their range of SAT scores without those of international students or non-English speakers, count as applications any submission from a high school student whether it is complete or includes an application fee, or alumni donation rates by automatically amortizing a single donation over several years?

US News and other ranking publications have put so much pressure on colleges to report good numbers that the admissions officers need to consider not only how anything they do will affect their reality but also how it will look to US News.

And as Boston Lion says, some of the creative strategies were invented right here in the Ivy League. Much in the way several of our institutions, mine included, pioneered the recruitment and enrollment of football ringers in the 19th century, so we have continued our creative ways to the modern era.
