Same thing at Penn although we did use our TE a little bit more last year; however, a little bit more means 20 receptions which still indicates our TE was not a go to guy. The last TE I remember getting a lot of play in our league played at Yale a few years back. I forget his name but I think it began with the letter "L". Yale went to him on every critical 3rd down conversion and I remember them succeeding on most of those plays.

Harvard of course used many as H backs and they always played a big role in their offense.

If you are thinking of Nate Lawrie, he was early 2000s.

That's the guy. He killed us. Caught everything thrown in his direction and made every big 3rd down catch.

...can also be a first year starting QB’s best friend. Whether dragging across the middle or quick flaring toward the sideline, the TE’s route opens quickly and provides a relatively safe throw for the QB. Other benefits accrue by keeping LB’s back on their heels a bit as they must be prepared to defend against the pass, making them less committed as aggressive run-stoppers. Cornerbacks must also be prepared to help out more in the flats, making them a bit more vulnerable downfield. Targeting your QB 3-4 times per game (rather than only once) will also force opponents to burn valuable practice time preparing for a demonstrated receiving threat.
