After Yale takes a beat-down from Maine in week 3 and Dartmouth in week 4, who is the first Yale fan on this forum who will call for the firing of Tony Reno??

Even if Yale finishes last, he gets some years' grace period for winning it last season.

See, e.g. Buddy Teevens (2015 & 2016 seasons).

...after his first-to-worst, but Yale will turn on Reno much more quickly. I’m predicting a 1-3 start will be enough to get some pitchforks out on the streets.

...and, if Dartmouth gets the Yale Treatment at Fitton Field this weekend, and then takes a beat-down from Penn and Yale, who will be the first Greenie to call for 1-3 Buddy's forever-young head?
(We probably already know the answer to that, actually.)

...an inability to hold onto 21-point leads (demonstrated twice by Yale in just the past 8 games). You’ll never see that from Dartmouth. With a name like (v)oy vey, I already have my candidate for the whingeing Yalie most likely to first throw Reno under the bus.

Since Dartmouth blew a big lead.

We were up 13-0 against Harvard in the fourth in 2015. And 14-0 against Holy Cross late in the second quarter in 2013. Both ended up in heartbreaking losses. But I can't recall us surrendering a lead bigger than that in recent memory.

Can anyone remind me of games I'm overlooking?

No matter anyone’s opinion, The Coaches and the players ,are the ones who need to rectify the matter. Sometimes adversity is the best thing to happen to wake up and bring everyone together.
New week , new opponent Cornell up in Ithaca another hard place to play. Hopefully with a better result.

Eh. He won the Ivy championship, brings in great recruits every year, kids seem to like him, and embarrassed Harvard two years in a row now. Good enough for a five year extension really.

gentlemen; in my minds eye mr. reno is still making the same basic mistakes as made at the beginning of his tenure. it remains to be seen how our blue will respond this weekend on the shores of Lake Cayuga. It has been said a squad improves the most between the first and second game. There are many areas of needed improvement especially in the area tackling and covering receivers. This is a much different defensive squad from last year which lost many superlative players. I suspect it will take sometime for the defense to come together. I am optimistic the defensive coordinator will be able to successfully put together the parts of the puzzle within the next few games. as our dear friend mr. ricks used to say you have to keep the faith.

More going on Yale football team than meets the untrained eye. Several key injuries last week at Holy Cross.

Injuries, close losses, and complacency with recent success led to a very frustrating season for the Green in 2016.

While I think Yale will be fine this year, it *could* happen to them, too.

Injuries are already a concern. Complacency not an issue. Players concerned about coaching issues...specifically, the offensive play calling and defensive breakdown last week versus Holy Cross which reminded everyone in this forum of the similar events last season at Dartmouth.

Even the "untrained eye" was able to observe some of those key injuries. For those injuries that weren't so perceptible from the stands we will likely have to wait and see who is on the field against Cornell. It's just the beginning of the season and already the injury picture looks pretty bad. For Yale fans this looks all too familiar with the exception of last season's championship team.

You are correct. Last year's team was saved by the senior class and how much they wanted to win. I believe this number is correct; last week Reno started one senior on offense or defense. He has completely disrespected this year's senior class; both off the field and on the field. That fact, combined with the coaching issues, is of extreme concern to the players. This week's game is huge for the direction of this season. There is no question that Yale has the talent, and the depth. The issue this season is the team environment that Reno and his staff have created.

Crowle, Roman, Locke (I think), were the senior starters last week. Correct me if I'm wrong but OL Jack Lee was presumably hurt - didn't play at all. Who was disrespected by not starting that should have? Perhaps TE Lager would qualify. Was Reno supposed to start, (picking a Sr. RB at random) Kyle Ellerson at RB, in lieu of Dudek or Lamar? IMO, the seniors who were near the sharp end of the depth chart - and not hurt - either started or got playing time.

Mind you, I am not disparaging or doubting your insights. Just making some counterpoints to further the discussion.

For the record, and your exposure, I have never used multiple screen names. And I have never trolled this forum. I have never intended to provoke anyone on this board. I have stated the truth in the past and have done so in my posts today.

This forum deserves what it gets; speculation and uninformed opinions. You, and others, attack the handful of people who post in this forum who actually know what they are talking about and only intend to share that information with others who ask questions.

Required, I would ask that you name the injured players and the extent of their injuries. Also, in response to another poster’s comment, which seniors are being disrespected, which I assume from your comments means either not starting or not getting the playing time they deserve?

Dear Bulldog Fan (orig), no disrespect intended to you, but why should I bother at this point? For more personal attacks and name-calling?

I have probably "said to much" in this forum already. For the sake of those who have attacked me the most, I think it is best for me to forget about further posts regardless of how many questions I can answer and truth I can provide.

Required, part of the problem is that you convey the notion that the team is dysfunctional - be it the result of injuries, coaching, disrespecting seniors, etc. - by innuendo. Your arguments would be more persuasive if they included more specifics.

I never intended to communicate by innuendo. I only intended to answer questions asked previously in this thread, along with providing additional truthful information.

I am not going to provide a great deal of specifics; especially names of players on the current roster. Again, why? Let my haters and name-callers go after someone else.

I will state that the injuries will show up on Saturday at Cornell...lost for the season, as well as unable to practice so far this week. Not much of a chance those players are 100% on Saturday at Cornell.

The disrespecting seniors should be obvious to anyone who has followed Ivy League football for any length of time. What other team in recent memory, especially the defending champion, starts one senior the following year?

I will ask the same question in a different way.

Last Saturday at Holy Cross, where were the sophomores and juniors who played significant minutes last year? The answer is, those players have been replaced by the young players that Reno has recently recruited.

When the Mullen news broke to the team in the early Spring, Reno appointed eight off-season captains, with the intention or the team voting on one of the eight to replace Mullen as captain in a vote this fall.

Four of the eight Reno named were juniors. He deliberately excluded several seniors; many of whom had played in varsity games since their freshman year.

How is that for team chemistry? It gets worse.

Reno kicked two seniors out of the locker room last Saturday after the Holy Cross game after they voiced their displeasure with the performance of the coaches; both on offensive play calling and defensive scheme in the 4th quarter.

Does anyone really believe that Ivy League football seniors are not smart enough to realize that the Holy Cross coaching performance last weekend was anything different to the coaching performance at Dartmouth last season?

Last year...especially on defense...the Yale football seniors saved the coaches. This year, that is not an option. Reno is already making public statement about "how young our team is."

How would you like to hear that if you were a senior?

Are those examples specific enough for you?

What seniors specifically should be playing that aren’t and aren’t hurt? Assume you believe in a meritocracy not a Union-based seniority system.

If a player called out a coach in locker room, I would throw the player out as well as would nearly every coach in America. It is a dictatorship, not a democracy..

Injuries happen...Harvard and Princeton got crushed last year...looks like Yale’s turn this year. Welcome to football.

What truth? Which seniors should play? Provide specificity and perhaps you will gain credibility.

As for injuries, schools are not required to disclose anything and most don’t - ACC has no such requirement as an example. This is not the NFL. Same goes for Mullen (depending upon what happened, school likely can’t comment anyway)

Speculation on the Yale FB Board said that the timing of events seems pretty consistent with the theory that he was accused of academic misconduct at the end of last Fall semester, and unsuccessfully attempted to appeal the charge to the Yale Student Board (or whatever its called) in the Spring.

Just the messenger...
