I cannot remember two better back to back showings by a Dartmouth defense, even from their stellar 2015 unit. Holy Cross had ZERO first downs through the first three quarters. Dartmouth first string D has not given up a point this season. Was worried playing Holy Cross at their place after their comeback win against Yale. But Dartmouth D was stifling. Holy Cross broadcast team even said Dartmouth should have been up 35-0 at half. All I can say is hats off to the players and Dobes, McCorkle and Brooks.

To demand that Dartmouth-Princeton not be the finale.

Less chance of a snowstorm in Hanover in early November.

Go Green, given the current political environment, I'm a little sensitive to people who confuse facts with what they've convinced themselves to be true in the absence of facts.

I was under the impression that it was discovered some months ago that the switch in Ivy schedules was not initiated by Princeton and, in fact, was requested by Dartmouth.

I thought the explanation was that Dartmouth wanted to avoid the long road trip down to New Jersey every other year because it conflicted with reading period and exam schedules in Dartmouth's quarterly calendar.

Is this true or not?

I don't know what that means.

I'm guessing that it's a comment on the Times' liberal slant on current news events. Is that correct?

Seriously, I thought that the genesis of the end of the Dartmouth-Princeton season finale had been resolved. And that happened due to Dartmouth requesting it.

Is that true or not?

It was a joke that goes back to the debate I had with another poster here over whether four Ivy teams or just Yale qualified for I-A status in 1982. Much of the "debate" focused on what the NYT reports said on the matter....

ANYWAY, best I can tell, neither Dartmouth nor Princeton or anyone issued a statement indicating which school was the impetus for the change. Yes, I suppose the change does make it easier for Dartmouth guys to prep for exams. That being said... I know that the change was VERY unpopular among Dartmouth FB alums (at least the ones I've spoken with). I'm inclined to believe that the "exams" rationale was more post-hoc face-saving coming from Hanover.

You do realize that there are at least four posters here who go by some version of An Observer, Observer, observer, or observer15, right? That other poster wasn't me.

Look, I don't really care about your obsession with Princeton. At first, I thought it was weird, but now I find it more endearing. Since we don't have foehi here to obsess over Columbia any more, your Ahab-ian focus on Princeton is all that we have to remind us of Auburn or Ohio State fans on the Saturday before Thanksgiving.

(If Penn doesn't start beating Columbia again, foehi may never come back.)

But you're one of the most frequent and more informative posters on this message board. Posting stuff about Princeton -- or anything else, for that matter -- which you know full well to be untrue is beneath you.

"Captain Ahab" is urban lexicon for someone who fancies large white women.

Thinking of a rugby team here....

Mrs. Go Green was captain of her rugby team. She was in Hanover this weekend for the 40th anniversary of the DWRC founding. I spent the weekend watching the kids (hence, I missed Swann interception #3).

And yes-- I fancy her very much!!!

Dartmouth isn't in reading period in the final week of the season. It's right in the middle of exams. Players have exams on the Friday before and the Sunday after. I've heard Dartmouth asked about moving the schedule up a week but the idea was not warmly received and that the switch to Brown for the final game was a compromise offered by the league.

The Dartmouth instigation is certainly the understanding in Joisey, where nobody actually gives a rat's patoot about Dartmouth, but seemingly everyone is ripped about the way the new schedule screws up Harvard and Yale weekends.

When Dartmouth is clearly the program that Surace has the most trouble beating.

Finishing 6-1 doesn't always get you a title. See, e.g., Dartmouth (2014).

From the Daily Princetonian (so GG may consider it "fake news", but that puts them in company with the NYT).

"Several reasons prompted the schedule change. For example, the new schedule eliminates the need for Dartmouth to travel to Princeton during its final exam period."

A very early look at the league through two weeks shows this fan the following:

Princeton & Dartmouth appear to be the most dominant teams.

Yale seems to be playing below the level we expected.

Columbia seems solid but maybe not at the level they were at last season.

Cornell is, once again, very competitive like they were last season and no longer a bad team.

Penn looks solid but not spectacular.

This looks like a good, but not great, Harvard team.

Brown seems improved, particularly on offense and at the QB position. However, they will need to prove that they can win games before emerging from the basement.

Agree completely with Ivy Football Fan's analysis, subject to the fact we are still early in the season.
