So with the Yankee-Red Sox game one basically playing at the same time (7:30 but close enough) what is the over-under for attendance?

4000 ?

6000 with 2000 leaving at the half?

They will probably announce something over 8,000 - they did for both previous Friday night games at the Bowl, even though actual attendance was much less.

You don't need a balanced offense if you can run the ball down the other teams throat.

Penalties and turnovers are hurting Yale, but not nearly as much as the Dartmouth O-Line.
If Yale can't figure out how to get some penetration (no Kavanaugh jokes, please), this one's going to get ugly.

That holding call on Strother on the Rawlings TD was BS.

And the interference call on Henson was even worse. If that was interference, then what Swann did in the end zone was aggravated assault.

Agreed, but Yale let the game get away when they were inside the Dartmouth 30 three straight possessions and only scored 3 points.

With Dartmouth receiving the 2nd half kickoff, it's time to switch to baseball.

Buddy Teevans might actually be the best coach in the Ivy League; his player development skills and coaching ability is phenomenal.

Yale needs to recruit bigger guys in the trenches.

Halftime wasn't an indication of how the game would turn out last year. :-)
But, that's the only slim hope Yale seems to have. If you can't stop the other team's offense, you'll never win the game. Dartmouth's possessions tonight:
82 yards, Touchdown
75 yards, Touchdown
Fumble on first play
82 yards, Touchdown
84 yards, Touchdown

It's ugly, and likely to get uglier.

Yale has 235 yards of offense. They have moved the ball well enough to at least be close. Not today.

So much for a halftime turnaround!
Now, it's:
82 yards, Touchdown
75 yards, Touchdown
Fumble on first play
82 yards, Touchdown
84 yards, Touchdown
75 yards, Touchdown

We've heard all the crowing about Dartmouth's defense, but Yale was able to move the ball well enough when the game was still in doubt. But, Yale's defense had absolutely nothing for the Big Green offense.

Wow Dartmouth is impressive on both sides of the ball. Good to see a non-HYP program playing with such dominance. The big game coming up down the road is the Dartmouth vs. Princeton game. That will be well worth the price of admission.

Now I know what you Yale posters mean by the poor field conditions in the Bowl. Shame on your AD for not having the field in safe condition for both teams. The refs should tell the AD either fix your field or no more games this year at the Bowl. Again very unsafe conditions for both the Yale and Dartmouth players. Even the refs have been slipping.

Love to see Dartmouth dominant in the Bowl. These kids look GOOD.

Yale University should be embarrassed about the field conditions at the Bowl. Year in and year out, that natural turf is in horrible condition and poorly maintained. For a world class university that has an endowment as large as Yale’s, there is no excuse for it. The kids deserve better.

Nice INT, but I wonder why Yale thought every pass on that drive needed to go to the sidelines when the clock stops on a first down.

How about something deep down the middle.

Can't believe it took until Q4 of game 4 for the OC to realize that putting two RB's in the backfield at the same time was a good idea.

Other than that, this game wasn't decided by X's and O's - it was decided by Jimmy's and Joe's. Dartmouth has the meat this year, no question.

Enough to beat Princeton? Not sure about that; time will tell.
Enough to beat Harvard? One would think so. But, fourteen years of history would argue otherwise. Again, time will tell.

Should be fun to watch!

Very impressed with Dartmouth's offense. Yale got no penetration at all. Not sure if there was anything the coaching staff could do. Sometimes you are out-manned.

The Dartmouth D was OK. I don't see Princeton having a problem scoring. But can they stop the Dartmouth offense?

I said in a previous post that D's all senior OL and DL are very impressive. There's not an Ivy team that can match up with them. Barring injury, these big guys will lead Dartmouth to an undefeated season. There's a big drop-off from 1st team DL to 2nd team, unlike last year when D would rotated 8-9 DLinemen.

But Gerbino was running against 2nd and 3rd teamers due to innumerable injuries. However, there is no question that Dartmouth has an outstanding team. If both teams come in undefeated, it should be one hell of a game.

Were Yale's Defense playing with 2nd teamers? I know they are missing Mullens, but he wouldn't have made a difference. When Dartmouth's LT and LG were pulling around end, Yale's defensive end LBers were scared. Gerbino was able to walk it in for a TD. I don't see how Princeton will stop that, especially if Gerbino proves he can pass it once in a while.

Princeton is the best team the Ivy has ever seen.

Dartmouth still hasn't proven that it's in the same universe as the Tigers.

just like last week defer on the coin toss receive second half kickoff go in and score

Sorry Ivy Wanna Be the traffic was atrocious was running late so went directly to lot A where D had a tailgate. The Ghost was there as well he did get the bomb

He was right predicted D by 20. First half we dominated but Yale had dumb penalties and receiver stepping out of bounds on td was the killer. Yale D stepped up in second half and basically pretty much shut down Gerbino who ran wild in first half. Yale QB Rawlings took a beating in second half 3 or 4 big hits, will be one sore cowboy tmrow. he is good though elusive. Yale overrated this yr but real tough next yr bc OL all underclassman as is Dudek and Rawlings whereas D's OL is all Sr's

All in all solid dominating victory by Dartmouth but until we beat Harvard doesn't mean squat. All Ivy Football fans should root for Pton/Dmouth undefeated showdown at Tiger stadium in early November bc that might get a few eyeballs from the rest of the world

He was one point and/or a blown call away from an undefeated season last year.

If transitive scores and/or Sagarin rankings hold, he should go 7-3 (5-2) this season.

That is nothing to apologize for.

Wouldn’t it just be this year when the League moves Princeton-Dartmouth from the final weekend of the season AND puts BOTH of Princeton’s traditional Big Three matchups on the road. Instead we end our season against Penn, a suitable b-ball rivalry, but not historically one of our bigger football draws. I liked it much better when HYP played the final three weekends.

Since we still play Princeton next to last and Harvard last only the order of the other games has changed for Yale over the years.

I do miss playing Dartmouth on, or around, Halloween, though.

I, too, miss the Halloween date with Dartmouth. That was a long time ago, though.

I think I've mentioned it on this board before, but my belief is that the original (1956-1975) Ivy schedule was devised with the following as the first two steps in the process:
1) Yale plays everyone in alphabetical order, except with Harvard last (B, Col, Cor, D, Pn, Pr, H)
2) Harvard does the same, but with Brown shifted to next-to-last, out of necessity. (Col, Cor, D, Pn, Pr, B, Y)

That resulted in Yale-Dartmouth being around Halloween.

Of course, back then, the season didn't start until the LAST Saturday in September, and was only 9 games long.

Just think: this past weekend's games would've been "Week 2" under that formula -- the second of two OoC games. NEXT week would be Yale/Brown, Harvard/Columbia, opening day of the Ivy schedule.

And, to tie this back into the Dartmouth/Princeton scheduling discussion -- to those bemoaning the moving of that game off of the final weekend, keep in mind that it used to be the finale ONLY in years where it was played in NJ. When it was played at Dartmouth, it was the Ivy opener.

Basically, Dartmouth was always at home in week 3, against either Princeton or Penn in alternating years, and would finish the season on the road against the other. Cornell would do the same. This was presumably to avoid hostile weather conditions at the two rural schools in late November.
