My first visit to the Yale Bowl and as others have said, I could not believe how poor the field conditions were. Loved the history of the stadium and it was a beautiful night, but I have never seen so many players slipping and sliding in dry conditions. How do Yale players deal with this on a regular basis? Makes players all the more susceptible to injury.

The game itself was an impressive display of “man-ball” by Dartmouth, running the ball down the throat of the Yale D at will. Dartmouth D accorded itself well, allowing one touchdown in each half. For a team that does not tackle in practice, they sure have guys that lay the wood during games.

Was very impressed with Yale QB and receivers. That QB is a warrior and 14 and 88 are two of the best receivers in the Ivies. Not as impressed with Yale running game. Saw 33 get thrown around like a rag doll on one tackle for loss, and 5 stuffed at line on several plays. Most dangerous back to me was 1, who had an extra gear.

Dartmouth was overlooked once again in preseason polls, and are shaping up to have yet another year as one of the Ivies best teams.

Georgetown is weak because X
Holy Cross is weak because Y
Penn is weak because Z
Yale is weak because A.

Next week it will be Sacred Heart is weak because B.

Your delight in being the victim is amusing.

Dartmouth has a good team. Doesn't change the fact that
Georgetown is weak. And I have not seen anyone call Yale or Penn weak.

There were plenty of posts on the boards that Penn or some extension of Penn (i.e., their quarterback) "looked awful" last week.

A guy on the ASG board did the same thing regarding Yale last night. Go to the Yale FB Board and count the number of comments on how Yale got "outcoached."

It's been like this all year. People aren't sold on Dartmouth because we played weak teams and/or teams that played weak against us.

But Princeton? They looked DOMINANT!!

Great teams make opponents look worse than they are.

I don't think there's a single thing in Greenguy's post that I can disagree with.

A couple of points to add to that post:

The field has never been great, but conditions like those you saw last night are a relatively-recent development. The team has been practicing in the Bowl - at least one day a week, I think - over the past two years, and the condition of the surface has dropped off considerably ever since. Why they continue to do this defies all logic. Compounding the problem was all the rain that has fallen recently in the area.

Regarding Dudek (#33) - he, too, has another gear. 4.43 in the 40, all sorts of track and field accolades in high school, elusive moves. However, he's not a big kid, so moving the pile is sometimes a challenge. And what type of surface does a quick, elusive runner need to excel? A dry one with firm footing -- exactly what the Bowl does not provide! Granted, the stout Dartmouth D also contributed to his struggles last night. And, a nagging injury (ankle is the rumor) that has limited his playing time this year.
