It will be interesting to see what the top 25 rankings look like after today's games. #19 Villanova lost to #25 Maine 13-10. (Nova beat FBS Temple last month). Maine's qb was same one who played agaist Yale.
#23 Princeton blew out Lehigh 66-7 a bigger margin than Navy or Villanova. So the Tigers should move up in the rankings. Dartmouth dominated Yale and Yale beat Maine last week so the Big Green certainly deserves to be in the top 25.

It's not the poll, but Sagarin rates schools of note as follows:
7 - Princeton
16 - Dartmouth
17 - Villanova
18 - Colgate
19 - Delaware
---
29 - Maine
34 - URI
38 - UNH
40 - Yale
48 - Harvard
49 - Mercer
54 - Penn
59 - Cornell

...continue to raise the probability that Dartmouth will defeat Princeton. The probability after this past weekend's results has risen to a season-high of 44%, with Princeton currently projected to win by 3 points. Toss out Princeton's home field advantage and it's a pick 'em. Play up in Hanover and Dartmouth would be favored. Maybe the Massey algorithm doesn't look kindly on team's that like to run up the score in games that are effectively over at halftime?

And what did he want Surace to do?? He was playing 3rd and 4th string players including many freshmen in the second half. They were still scoring against Lehigh starters.

No one disputes that Princeton has the best third-string in the league.

:)

If the Princeton Dartmouth game is close at halftime, we will unleash our 3rd string and destroy you guys.

Massey says a diminishing returns principle is manifested in his Game Output Function. There is some advantage to winning "comfortably," but limited benefit to running up the score. A team will not be penalized just for playing a weak opponent (although it becomes much harder to improve its rating by blowing someone out).

BTW is it really true that attendance at Princeton was only 1,013?

I love your subtle humor.
I know we travelded 3 Freshmen (dear spots away). No telling how many FR Teevens uses at home.

Two Dartmouth freshmen scored against Yale when the game was still competitive. No idea how many traveled, though.

One of the "problems" (if it can be called that) for Dartmouth playing freshmen is that Dartmouth has been remarkably healthy this season (knock wood). Hard for freshmen to beat out upperclassmen when the older guys are playing and winning big.

Kudos to Princeton and Dartmouth.

Beware that a phenomenon I've noticed over past years is that Ivy Squads tend to drop in the NCAA rankings near the end of the season. I suspect this is because the NCAA wants to strengthen the appearance that the best teams are competing in the postseason tournament. Any loss by an Ivy squad will be a death knell and handled in a heavy handed way.

This certainly used to happen in the FBS polls almost every week, where the immediate opponents of top teams suddenly moved up, often sneaking into 24th or 25th spots.
