In reply to: Bob S 's message, "Football Recruiting Slots" on 22:38:47 11/04/21 Thu

The coaches/ADs need to respond by forcing the prexies to get rid of the bands, if not the entire AI, which, as everyone knows, is racist.

Bob S- If you were at a luncheon and Coach David Archer mentioned that there was going to be a 10% cut in football recruits next year don’t believe it. He probably is talking about Cornell’s Presidents wish to continue to diminish football. Archer should be more worried about whether Cornell will win another game this year. If not he will be 0-7 in Ivy League play and 1-9 for the year. He will have a record over 9 years of 20-60 .250 winning percentage, his third 1-9 season and never a season above .400 . I am amazed he made it to a sports luncheon. If I was him I would be hiding in a closet. The guy is a complete embarrassment to his players and their parents.

Red Ivy: Archer resigning may be the only way to get a new coach. By this point Cornell should have made more progress. Who’s to blame for Cornell football’s ills? Granted I can’t speak authoritatively on this issue but many say there’s a larger problem and some put the blame on Pollard. If this is true then what could’ve Archer accomplished if the university wasn’t sabotaging the football program? Will a replacement fair any better under the same circumstances? If you get your wish who should be his replacement? Sean Gleeson would be interesting.

David Archer was named Cornell’s football coach after the 2012 season. He coached in 2013 and finished 3-7. In 2014 he was 1-9. In 2015 he was 1-9. In 2016 he was 4-6, the most wins he has had in one season in nine years of coaching. Martha Pollack became Cornell’s President in April of 2017. Granted Martha Pollack does everything in her power to diminish Cornell football. As far as coaching goes David Arher has proved he was incompetent way before Pollack became President. The two are quite a pair and have ruined Cornell football. Martha is happy with Archer, why wouldn’t she be? He sucks up to her and keeps the enthusiasm for Cornell football at an all time low. Just what she wants.

If there are institutional issues, why would a rising star like Gleeson, who probably has considerable options, take such a position?

For Gleeson, it would be a huge pay cut from being the OC at Rutgers.

Gleeson was James Perry's understudy at Princeton .... assuming the OC role when James left to be the Bryant HC.

After a short stint an OK State, Schiano recruited him back to New Jersey.

He was a Broyles Award finalist (Best Assistant Coach) and is regarded as a rising star--but the luster will tarnish quickly if Rutgers cannot get more wins.

We have two Cornell grads who ad nauseam blame Martha Pollack for Cornell's football woes but have provided not one shred of substance to support their ill-tempered and uninformed rants. It would add immensely to this forum if they would just shut up.
